OpusCapita® Case TeliaSonera's Payment Factory anticipates cost reductions and flexibility Nordic and Baltic telecommunications leader, TeliaSonera, is in the process of building a Payment Factory, which will at all times direct the Group's international payments to their recipients using the most cost-effective routes. The power of centralised payments has already become evident in negotiations with banks. With the payment factory solution, TeliaSonera is striving for both cost reductions, flexibility and centralised control in its payment transactions. "The huge number of payments currently made throughout the Group carries a significant transaction cost. We have used several bank and country specific payment formats, the major challenge being that we have had to maintain an equal number of interfaces with our banks," explains Paul Wright, Project Manager responsible for external payments at TeliaSonera AB. "In addition, bank and country specific solutions have been locking us in and exposing us, for example to the banks' price changes without any real room for manoeuvre," adds Johan Bergqvist, Cash Manager of TeliaSonera and also Project Manager for the overall Cash and Treasury project at TeliaSonera AB. Problem · The Group payment process was locked by bank and country specific solutions. This produced significant transaction costs. Solution · TeliaSonera chose OpusCapita as its partner for the implementation of a Payment Factory solution, which will direct the Group's international payments to their recipients using the most cost-effective routes. "OpusCapita's co-operation with us has been fundamental. When we needed them to ramp up their resources in short notice, they were always very responsive. And for the questions we had, OpusCapita seemed to have most of the answers."
