OpusCapita® Case Tapiola takes no risks "We wanted the best SEPA expert in our market region as a partner" Unit Director Eila Burman (centre), Department Manager Juhani Backman (right) of the Tapiola Group and Development Manager Joonas Runnakko of Tapiola Data Ltd are responsible for preparing the financial services company for SEPA by the end of 2010. Problem: Tapiola wanted the software updates related to payment transfers and SEPA performed by a partner with high expertise in the field. Solution: In cooperation with OpusCapita, the SEPA project involves an implementation of the SEPA-compatible OpusCapita Payments Plus software, bank-specific Web Services transfer connections and security mechanisms. Since Tapiola is one of Finland's largest providers of financial services, any modifications to its payment systems are of critical nature. For this reason, Tapiola wanted a SEPA partner who specialises in the changes required by the common euro payments area and OpusCapita fits the bill. The daily total of claims and pensions paid by the Group's insurance companies amounts to roughly EUR 7.5 million. This covers a huge number of individual payments, amounting to hundreds of thousands per month, while up to 120,000 pension payments must be performed simultaneously. Each year, some seven million invoices are issued. Responsibility for the daily cash flow lies with Eila Burman, Unit Director for Payment Transfers/Billing and Collection/ Financial Administration, and Juhani Backman, Manager of the Payment Transfers Department. It is their task to ensure that the Tapiola Group is ready for the SEPA by the end of 2010. Tapiola began to prepare for these changes as early as 2007. In cooperation with OpusCapita, the actual realisation of the SEPA project began in early 2009. It involves a Group-wide implementation of the SEPA-compatible OpusCapita Payments Plus software, bank-specific WebServices transfer connections and PKI-based security mechanisms.
